OUTREACHESTRUE LOVE WAITSQy-Deara Richardson, the youth director at Central Assembly of God, hosted the True Love Waits program for the youth of the city of Newark. This is a 6-week seminar teaching teens a biblical view of sexuality and encouraging them to remain pure until marriage. Approximately 20 teens participated in the program and 14 completed it. They each made a commitment to Christ to remain pure until marriage. They received a True Love Waits ring and a certificate to remind them of their commitment. LEARNING FOR LIFE (LFL) After-School Program Central Assembly of God is offering children in
Newark a safe place to learn and excel. We assess the reading level of each
student and bring them up to grade level and beyond. We teach computer literacy
as well as help with math skills. We need more adult tutors. LFL meets
Wednesday-Friday, 3-6 pm, at Central Assembly of God, ADULT COMPUTER LITERACY Program We offer beginning and advanced computer classes for adults every Thursday night from 7-9 pm. Many adults are learning the basics of computers as well as learning more programs to help them become more employable. It's also a great opportunity to build relationships and share the love of Christ. There is always a need for more computers as well as to have our current computers updated. If this is your area of expertise and you would like to help in any way, please call CityHope Ministries at 973.242.0203. HERITAGE EMPLOYMENT LEARNING PLACEMENT (HELP) Center The HELP Center exists because of a joint effort between the ministers of the Resident Ministers Alliance of Newark. Pastor Paul Valerius offered to house this outreach at Central Assembly of God, 96 S 6th St, Newark, NJ. The HELP Center aids ex-offenders and those currently unemployed enter the workforce. Mrs. Ruby Reed, the Director, assesses current skills, helps build resumes, and contacts potential employers. If anyone is in need of this outreach, please call Mrs. Reed at 973.242.7878. Many people in Newark took advantage of the health fair held outside at Central Assembly of God on June 10. The University of Medicine and Dentistry brought a team of workers to 96 S 6th St to check cholesterol and sugar levels, take blood pressure, and assess the overall health of each individual. Approximately 100 people attended the health fair. We were able to hand out Christian literature and pray for individuals as they stood in line. Alonzo Herran, a minister a 3rd degree black belt in Karate , directs the Karate Klub at Central Assembly of God. Every Friday night from 6:45-7:45 pm the children learn Karate and the Word of God. The children are learning self-control, self-discipline, and the ways of Christ. Many families have become part of the Central Assembly of God church family as a result of this outreach. If you are interested in helping with any of these outreaches, please call CityHope Ministries at 973.242.0203. Hallelujah Night: On Friday night October 29th, Central Assembly of God is providing a Halloween alternative for the children of Newark, NJ. There will be carnival games, candy, food, and a gospel presentation. Thanksgiving Baskets: CityHope Ministries will again be giving out food baskets on Thanksgiving. Last year we blessed 75 families with a generous food basket and prayer. Christmas Stockings: This annual outreach reaches hundreds of children and families. We hand out the stockings, pray for needs, and minister the love of Christ. As we reach the children, we reach the family.
