EASTER CELEBRATION
On Saturday, April 10, 2004, we held an Easter Celebration at Central Assembly of God in Newark, N.J. We showed the Veggie Tales videotape, The Easter Carol, and showed the children resurrection eggs explaining the real meaning of Easter. We prayed for children, and each child received a bag of candy and a chocolate bar. There was a drawing for baskets and 2 bikes. Ashanti Dortch won the girls bike and Stephon Williams won the boys bike.
Central Assembly joined other Newark churches in ministering to and praying for many who viewed the movie The Passion of Christ.
April 18-21 we held a 4 day revival with Evangelist Dennis Thrasher. The DiBenedetto family ministered in worship. People were saved, healed of inner struggles, and ministered to by the Holy Spirit.
MEMORIAL DAY BBQ
On Monday, May 26, 2004 we closed down the street in
front of our church and held a community bar-b-que. There were games for the
kids, music, preaching, drug and alcohol referrals, a Karate demonstration, and
plenty hamburgers and hot dogs. A team from Shenandoah, Iowa helped us with this
event.
July 6-August 13, 2004 we held a summer day camp for twenty-five children ages 6-12. They learned music, dramas, made crafts and journals, received help in math and reading, went on weekly daytrips, had recreation, memorized Scriptures, and were ministered to in a daily chapel service. This all culminated in a end-of-summer program for the parents and guardians. Everyone was blessed from the staff to the children and the parents.
Adventure Club meets every Wednesday night during family night. This club is for girls and boys 6-12 years old. They learn Bible stories, do crafts, have snacks, and learn from the Wheel of Knowledge.
YOUTH Events
* This summer the youth went hiking at the Delaware Water Gap, went to Point Pleasant Beach, began a Dancers for Jesus, and God Squad Drama Team.
Women need each other. Women Blessing Women is a ministry that meets once a month for teaching, fellowing, and prayer.
The men meet the 2nd Saturday of the month at a local diner encouraging one another to build godly character and are ministered to by the Word of God.
